BIOGRAPHY

Iona, originally from Perth, Scotland, is an active musician in today's industry. Her musical journey started when she began playing upright bass aged 8 and percussion at aged 10. She quickly developed a varied interest in many different music genres, stretching from jazz to heavy metal. This quickly led her, at age 11, to buy her own bass guitar, allowing her to be self taught. Throughout her teenage years studying at Perth Academy, she was kept very busy by participating in many different bands and orchestras within school and Perth & Kinross' Instrumental Music Service.

In 2013 Iona moved to Birmingham to study jazz bass at Birmingham Conservatoire. Throughout her time there, she was fortunate enough to play alongside John O'Gallagher and perform at Cheltenham Jazz Festival. She left the Conservatoire with a BMus Degree in Jazz Bass.

Now based in Perth, Iona is a keen session musician and regularly performs with many different groups. These vary from Symphony Orchestras and Championship Brass Bands, to pit bands and wedding ceilidh groups. She arranges music and also teaches pupils of varied ages and abilities.
